Jo Nemeth

Moneyless woman, climate activist, waste warrior

Jo Nemeth has been living without money for 6 years. Feeling the weight of negative impacts on people and planet through participating in our hyper-industrialised system, Jo gave up her job, her car, her rental house, her relationship and all income in early 2015. Since then she has been living in various situations, growing food and helping out as best she can as part of her personal campaign to address global injustice and destruction and live more lightly.

Her latest project, undertaken with long-time friend Sharon, will see the transformation of a ‘regular’ suburban household in Lismore, NSW, into one that is ‘fossil-fuel free by 2023’. Jo started the Lismore Retrosuburbia group which meets once a month, is in the process of getting a Repair Café going, and is involved in the local Really Really Free Market and the Lismore Community Garden.
