Elly Bird is a Councillor on Lismore City Council. After the devastating floods in Lismore 2017 she managed Lismore Helping Hands, an innovative, community-led spontaneous volunteer hub, leading a team that coordinated more than 1500 volunteers, and managed a variety of emergent partnerships and community initiatives. Elly also has a passion for directing large scale outdoor community theatre events, as the director of the Lismore Lantern Parade Firey Finale and the director of the Welcome Ceremony at Woodford Folk Festival. Elly is deeply committed to the well-being of her community and she has a deep and enduring love for the Northern Rivers with its unique, inspiring, engaged and activated communities.
