A native Zapotec from Oaxaca, México. Alejandro holds a BSc. in Agronomy from University of Chapingo and Master in Tropical Agroforestry from CATIE in Costa Rica. Alejandro has worked for various organizations at home and abroad on issues related to environmental protection and food and farming. Alejandro draws on personal experience as a small producer of various crops & cattle in his home town. For ten years he was the Mexican Country Director of the NGO – Heifer International. He currently lives in an eco-community in a Cloud Forest in Veracruz, with his wife Anja and their son, Karim, where they grow coffee, fruit, staples crops, vegetables and keep chickens.
